Jungheinrich presents new Kombi Stacker
Jungheinrich presents its new Order Picker / 3-way Stacker Range 4 with electric motor to the trade public for the first time at the LogiMAT 2012.

This is an order picker / 3-way stacker type EKX 410 with electric motor – in short: a Kombi truck. The truck, used exclusively in narrow aisles, can be used for stacking and retrieving pallets or box pallets as well as for picking individual articles.

“We expect to expand our market position in the one tonne class and to have better access to markets for lift heights up to ten metres with the introduction of this new range“, says Sebastian Riedmaier, Head of Warehousing and Systems trucks Product Management at Jungheinrich. “The focal point during the redevelopment of this truck generation was put on a technology upgrade for transponder technology and warehouse navigation in narrow aisles“, added Riedmaier.

The modular platform concept from Jungheinrich with many configuration possibilities has proved its worth for years. It endows the Kombi truck with very good adaptability to current and future requirements. The EKX 410 is a high rack stacker with up to 1,000 kilogram capacity. The truck now achieves lift heights of over nine metres and stands for high throughput efficiency in a narrow aisle warehouse due to 3-phase AC technology.

MG America to debut new Launch AlterNova capsule filler at Interphex 2012
MG America, the U.S. subsidiary of MG2 of Bologna, Italy – and a leading supplier of processing, packaging and assembly machinery, service and support to the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, nutritional, food and general packaging industries – will premiere its new AlterNova Capsule Filler at Interphex from May 1-3, 2012, at New York City’s Jacob Javits Center.

Specially designed to be flexible so that growing companies can easily increase production or change product forms and sizes, the AlterNova is the only intermittent motion capsule filler with a basic output of 105,000 capsules per hour that can be efficiently upgraded to speeds up to 180,000 capsules per hour. The AlterNova can dose any oral pharmaceutical form – solid or liquid – and can combine up to four different kinds of products into the same capsule.

The machine uses a tamping disc to fill powders, and also can fill pallets, tablets, liquids, and various combinations of all four forms. At Interphex, the AlterNova will be set up for powder filling with statistical weight control at an output of 105,000 capsules per hour. Features on the AlterNova include a touch-screen human-machine interface (HMI); PLC for machine functions control; motorized adjustment of machine speed from the monitor; HMI visualization of obstruction in the capsule feeding tube, etc.

Benco Pack to launch new liquid filler
Italian supplier of aseptic form fill seal machines Benco Pack is set to introduce an updated version of its FFS Packline machine, featuring an Integrated Sleeve Applicator (ISA). According to the company, the new FFS Packline is able to produce thermoformed containers from a roll of multi-layer barrier plastic film in sizes ranging from 250gm to 500gm, using a three-step packaging and filling process.

The tubular ISA shrink-sleeve labels are made of plastic that adhere as a skin onto the walls of the cup through a heat-shrinking process, allowing customized shapes. The containers are filled with product, closed by a thermo sealed peelable lid, labelled and then cut to the desired configuration. A suction and air blowing system minimizes defects and eliminates excessive vapour in the pre-fixing and shrink-wrapping zone, and a motor trolley is increasing the speed of the process.

The FFS Packline is pre-sterilised and maintained in sterile conditions using steam and hydrogen peroxide sprays. Designed for use in the dairy industry, the horizontal aseptic form fill seal machine is available in standard, hygienic and ESL versions.
New flexible packaging films launched by LINPAC Packaging
In line with its new Fresh Thinking Innovation strategy, Europe’s leading multi-material food packaging company, LINPAC Packaging, has launched two new PP films for fresh meat, poultry and fish packaging solutions.

Both film solutions, LINtop PP HB Lock Seal and LINtop PP HB Peelable, guarantee to meet the best shelf life targets in the PP market, helping manufacturers, retailers and consumers reduce food waste and spoilage - critical in today’s cost conscious recessionary marketplace.

Manufactured at the company’s Pontivy flexible films site in France, both product solutions are formulated to seal on a variety of PP trays, run smoothly in machines and seal through contamination to ensure a safe and secure pack is created.

The lock seal film option is available in two gauges, 35μ and 42μ, with the 35μ being one of the lowest gauges on the market, resulting in cost savings and a low carbon footprint in line with retailers’ sustainability strategies. LINtop PP HB Lock Seal outperforms other films’ anti-fog qualities and has excellent transparency to give good on-shelf presentation.

LINPAC Packaging’s LINtop PP HB Peelable film offers safe and easy peelability, coming away from the tray in one piece. It is in line with the best market offerings for anti-fog efficiency and oxygen barrier and outperforms most films for transparency qualities.

The new films have been carefully engineered to ensure that they are fit for purpose and perform to a high standard while having a low gauge to minimise their environmental footprint.
